Running an SEO Site With WorkBuddy

A new site has no authority, so nothing you publish gets traffic immediately.

Realistic timeline: almost nothing for 3 months, indexing starts around 3-6, long-tail traffic compounds after 6. Anyone expecting week-one results is doing the wrong thing.

Don’t chase head terms — competition is brutal and requires authority. Build a long-tail matrix instead:

❌ "AI tools" (red ocean, a new site can't rank)
✅ "how to configure MCP in WorkBuddy"
✅ "how to write scheduled automations"
✅ "AI batch rename files"

Each term is low volume, but clear intent and weak competition. Hundreds of them add up.

Every page targets exactly one term:

  • title: under 60 characters, keyword near the front
  • description: under 150 characters stating the payoff
  • H2/H3: question-style headings to pick up related queries

Concentrating on one term beats spreading across three.

Home (hub)
/ \
Category A Category B
/ \ / \
P1 P2 P3 P4

Rules:

  • Home links to every category page
  • Pages within a category link to each other (prev/next often automatic)
  • Cross-category links only when semantically relevant

Internal links help crawlers discover everything and distribute authority.

Technical SEO (configure once, benefit forever)

Section titled “Technical SEO (configure once, benefit forever)”

Structure

  • Flat URLs (/category/article/, not /p?id=123)
  • A unique canonical per page
  • hreflang on multilingual sites

Required files

  • sitemap.xml — generated automatically; submit it to webmaster tools
  • robots.txt — make sure you’re not blocking crawlers

Performance

  • Prefer static output (speed is a ranking factor)
  • Compress and lazy-load images
  • Mobile layout must actually work
  1. Submit the sitemap to webmaster tools
  2. Install analytics
  3. Watch indexing speed — if nothing is indexed after two or three months, suspect the sitemap or low content quality

⚠️ Content quality line: scraped content, unedited AI output, and thin pages get classified as low value, which hits both indexing and ad eligibility. AI assistance is fine; adding nothing isn’t.

Once analytics is live, look for:

  • Impressions without clicks → rewrite titles and descriptions
  • Clicks with short dwell time → the content broke the title’s promise
  • Unexpected queries in the report → uncovered demand worth its own page

Once every two weeks beats staring at it daily.

External links still help, but rank below content and structure:

  • Submit to relevant directories and tool listings
  • Answer questions substantively in communities (not spam)
  • Create things worth citing

  • Power User: experts, prompts, troubleshooting, multi-model strategy, SEO operations

Back to the roadmap, or re-read the one you skimmed. Good tutorials are worth a second pass.
